Approx. 3 x 3 in. (miniature format). Very Good condition.
Pair of miniature facsimile editions reproducing the first issue of Life, the celebrated American humor and literary magazine founded by John Ames Mitchell in New York in 1883. The original publication predates the later and more widely recognized photojournalistic Life magazine of the 20th century and began as a satirical weekly featuring illustrations, commentary, and light literary material. These miniature reproductions were issued as novelty or promotional facsimiles, preserving the layout and appearance of the original inaugural number in highly collectible diminutive format. Such miniature issues appeal to collectors of publishing ephemera, miniature books, and periodical curiosities. A pleasing matched pair, uncommon as a set.
